Unfortunately, life has been quite hectic as of late and, therefore, not conducive to adequate blog updates. I shall alleviate this problem now. So much has occurred that I am trying to be as brief and concise as possible…not my strong points.

From March 26-28, I was in Charleston running the Cooper River Bridge Run. This is a city I’ve grown up in and feel like a pseudo-local. In Charleston, I am proud to say, every establishment I dined at focused on local produce and organic sustainability. This is one of the reasons I adore Charleston so much:they are PROUD of their food culture. They take pride in long preparation…it’s not food in Charleston; it is a cuisine. Thus, encompassing cultures, traditions, histories, and technique. There is no microwave or frozen meal; the foods is art. This concept is what separates REAL dining from just an average repast.

I’ll briefly highlight some favorite establishments I dined at.
Caviar & Bananas is a gourmet foods market/ eatery which is phenomenal-Truly one of my favorite stores on Earth. http://www.caviarandbananas.com/

McCrady’s is a southern institution. They are the maverick chefs who totally revolutionized southern cuisine and dining. They pride themselves in produce from their own gardens and they even prepare their own patented mozzarella. Everything at McCrady’s is local; for example, my stunning Spring vegetable salad

It was a work of art.

A Wonderful French Toast with fresh baked Challah Bread at Three Little Birds Cafe.

I was disappointed to discover though that we were one week shy of their farmer’s market opening celebration. I adore the Charleston Farmer’s Market and it has been ranked in the top 5 Farmer’s Markets of the USA.
